About Eggware Social

We run a suite of free and open-source software for communication and cooperation. The long-term goal is to develop our own software, aid others in hosting their own instances, and cultivate a community on the independent web.

Who runs this?

I'm @brilokuloj and I've been running forums since 2004.

System administration is beloved to me, but moderating is... less so. I'm looking to build a moderation team out of willing volunteers when we have a more established community, but it's a bit early for that, so for the time being it's me and my partners.

Community guidelines?

Our individual platforms have different standards, but here's the overarching idea:

  1. Don't be an asshole.
  2. Don't get me in legal trouble.
  3. Don't make me regret this.

Privacy?

It's a good question. I encourage researching the individual software I run.

I can tell you that I will never go through your stuff. You're just going to have to trust me on that. If you want security, I want to help you run this software for yourself, too. I only have so much time in my day, but I'll do what I can.

Finances?

Of course this isn't sustainable. Help me out on Ko-fi.

I take archival and data preservation extremely seriously, so I do promise to never cut my services without at least a month's worth of warning. If I had it my way, I'd run all of this forever. I have no idea what the future holds. I haven't had any luck in my life making enough money to stay afloat and I have no pretenses that this will last. This is just my skillset and I'm trying to make the rest of my life worthwhile.
